| Payday loans could be decisive to Christmas spend
Monday, Dec 19, 2007 Parents spend an average of £119 on presents for each of their children at Christmas, according to a recent survey - and a payday loan could make all the difference in allowing you to afford that special something for the kids. Churchill Insurance says that a total of £1.4 billion is spent on presents by British parents each year, fuelled by the rigorous lists of demands set by their offspring DVDs and videos top children's Christmas lists, according to the survey, with books and clothing following hot on their heels. A payday loan would help towards the purchase of any of these items in time for the big day. Martin Scott, head of home insurance as Churchill, said: "The research suggests that there are millions of pounds worth of gifts in homes around Christmas time." The findings bear this out by showing that the average child's possessions already weigh in at £618 - a figure that will rise by around 20 per cent come the festive period. Surprisingly, Churchill's ranking of the most sought-after Christmas gifts saw games consoles chart only in tenth place - defeated by chocolate, dolls and board games.
